Mad Science Camp

June 15 - 19

Get ready to create, experiment, and be amazed by the wonders of science! Mad Science Camp is a hands-on, curiosity-driven week where young scientists explore the messy and marvelous through playful experimentation and creative problem-solving.

Campers will dive into a series of engaging projects and experiments; mixing slimy goo, triggering colorful reactions, discovering things that move, and investigating things that glow. With lab coats on and safety goggles in place, children will test ideas, make predictions, and learn through doing in a supportive, age-appropriate studio environment.

Throughout the week, campers will:

🧪 Conduct safe, exciting science experiments using real tools and materials

🧪 Explore cause and effect through chemistry, physics, and sensory science

🧪 Create slime, reactions, and glowing projects

🧪 Practice observing, predicting, and documenting results

Activities are thoughtfully scaffolded so younger campers can explore through sensory play, while older campers are encouraged to ask deeper questions and experiment more independently.

Café Creators Camp

June 22 - 26

In Café Creators Camp, children work together to design and run their very own play restaurant, bringing creativity, collaboration, and dramatic play together in one deliciously fun week. Campers will imagine a restaurant concept, design menus, create play food, and build a welcoming café space for customers.

Using art materials and recycled objects, students will craft realistic and imaginative play food while exploring how restaurants operate behind the scenes. Through role-play, children will take turns being chefs, servers, hosts, and customers–building social skills, communication, and confidence along the way.

Throughout the week, campers will:

🍰 Design and set up a play restaurant and dining space

🍰 Create play food using a variety of art and craft materials

🍰 Design menus, signs, and décor

🍰 Engage in dramatic play through rotating restaurant roles

🍰 Practice cooperation, problem-solving, and creative thinking

🍰 Explore basic concepts related to food, hospitality, and community

Activities are thoughtfully scaffolded so younger campers can enjoy open-ended pretend play, while older campers are encouraged to add detail, planning, and storytelling to their restaurant experience.

The week culminates in a play café experience, where families are invited to visit the restaurant and enjoy the imaginative creations designed and served by their young chefs.

Castle Creators Camp

June 29 - July 3

In Castle Creators Camp, children become designers and builders as they create their very own dollhouse-style castle to take home. This imaginative, hands-on week invites campers to dream up enchanted towers, cozy chambers, secret staircases, and grand halls—then bring them to life with art, craftsmanship, and storytelling.

Campers will receive a blank castle to decorate using a wide variety of materials, exploring texture, color, and design while adding detailed elements such as furniture, accessories, and imaginative characters. Each child’s castle reflects their unique ideas and interests, making every creation truly one-of-a-kind.

Throughout the week, campers will:

🏰 Create miniature furniture, décor, and accessories

🏰 Explore mixed media, painting, and construction techniques

Mythical Magic Camp

July 6 - 10

Step into a world of wonder at Mythical Magic Camp, where imagination reigns and legendary creatures come to life. This enchanting week invites children to explore mythical beings such as unicorns, mermaids, and dragons through art-making, storytelling, and playful “magic.”

Campers will create imaginative art projects inspired by myths and folklore while mixing colorful “magic potions,” designing creature-inspired creations, and building their own fantastical worlds. Each day blends creativity, sensory exploration, and imaginative play in a joyful, age-appropriate environment.

Throughout the week, campers will:

City Builders Camp

July 13 - 17

In City Builders Camp, students become young architects, engineers, and urban planners working together to design and construct their very own model city neighborhood. Using recycled and found materials as building supplies, campers will transform everyday objects into imaginative structures while exercising ingenuity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Throughout the week, children will explore how real cities are designed, from the first blueprint to the finished building. Campers will learn about architecture, engineering, and urban planning while considering the needs of the people who live and work in their city.

Enchanted Garden Camp

July 20 - 24

Enchanted Garden Camp is a week of magical making, pretend play, and creative movement. If your child enjoys fairies, elves, making magic potions, playing dress-up, dance, creative movement and art, they're sure to love this fanciful week of fun!

Throughout the week, children will:

🧚🏼‍♀️ Engage in imaginative pretend play and storytelling

🧚🏼‍♀️ Explore dance and creative movement in a playful, age-appropriate way

✨ Special Field Trip Experience:

This camp includes a visit to Strictly Ballet Studio for a ballet lesson and a special preview of The Nutcracker, along with a glimpse into the studio’s annual fundraiser, the Victorian Fairy Garden Party - a magical extension of the week’s theme.

Enchanted Garden Camp is designed to nurture imagination, creativity, and confidence in a supportive, wonder-filled environment, leaving children inspired, joyful, and full of magical memories.

Pirate Adventure Camp

July 27 - 31

ARRRRRR you ready to set sail on a treasure-hunting voyage? Pirate Adventure Camp is a week-long, action-packed adventure where young swashbucklers design, build, explore, and imagine their way across the high seas.

Campers will work together to design and construct a pirate ship, create pirate accessories and animal sidekicks, and prepare for a simulated voyage to a series of “islands,” each featuring its own treasure hunt. Along the way, children will engage in hands-on learning through map-making and reading, solving riddles and puzzles, and exploring the science and engineering behind sailing and life at sea.

Throughout the week, campers will:

🏴‍☠️ Design and build a pirate ship and nautical props

🏴‍☠️ Create pirate costumes and animal companions

🏴‍☠️ Learn basic map-making, navigation, and problem-solving skills

🏴‍☠️ Sing sea shanties, tie nautical knots, and complete collaborative challenges

🏴‍☠️ Explore local green spaces and our downtown neighborhood as part of the adventure

Activities are designed to encourage teamwork, creativity, movement, and critical thinking, with opportunities for both imaginative play and hands-on engineering.

Wild About Art Camp

August 3 - 7

Your animal lover will delight in creating all week long at Wild About Art Camp! This studio-arts–centered camp invites young artists to explore the fascinating world of animals through drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.

Students will discover how animals have been represented in celebrated fine art across cultures and time periods, while also exploring animal-inspired design and illustration. Through age-appropriate research, observation, and discussion, campers will choose animals that inspire them and bring their ideas to life.

Throughout the week, children will:

🐅 Study animals featured in famous artworks and contemporary design

🐅 Practice observational drawing and expressive painting

🐅 Create 3D animal sculptures and models

🐅 Write, sketch, and plan their own animal-inspired art projects

🐅 Develop creativity, fine motor skills, and confidence in the studio

Each camper’s experience is guided by their interests and developmental level, making this camp equally engaging for younger artists and older, more independent creators.

By the end of the week, your child will have created a collection of animal-themed artworks they are proud to share!

Bluebird Atelier summer camps are thematic immersive experiences with a different theme each week. The camp day is designed to allow a balance of guided instruction, free create and play time, focused project work, and active movement. Students receive individualized attention from instructors. Every student is appreciated for their unique point of view. Students engage in collaborative work as well as personal projects. Your child will develop a wide variety of knowledge and skills during our camps and classes, including creative problem-solving, the principles of art, literacy and humanities, STEM, social skills, the design process, and more.

Each camp day is taught by experienced teachers with CPR/First Aid training and all applicable clearances, and student-teacher ratios are kept low. During summer camps we utilize the studio as well as outdoor spaces at our nearby parks.

What to wear: Comfortable clothes that can get messy! Shoes that allow for comfortable walking and active play (and can get messy).

What to bring:

A snack (we are an allergy-aware school. If a student in the group has a severe allergy, we will let all families in that group know of any food cautions or restrictions)
Full water bottle
Sun protection such as a hat and SPF (that your child can apply by themself, or spray-on)
Extra change of clothes
