A workshop in building objects of art for elementary students
Service Description
A 6-hour course over 4 Wednesday sessions, from 4:00pm-5:30pm, Starting May 8, 2019. Class dates are Wednesdays: 5/8, 5/15, 5/22 & 5/29. This course will explore diverse materials and the potential of each to create form. The principles of line, light, and volume will be investigated while practicing technical skills. Work critique and a sample of relevant art history will be woven throughout the course. This course is a good fit for mature elementary students through middle school grades. All art classes are personalized based on your child's interests and goals, and are taught by experienced educator Jessi Almstead, from her home studio. All art materials are included, as well as a healthy non-allergenic snack. During this course, your young artist will: - Create a number of original works in various media to take home - Apply focused practice to technical skills using tools as well as the hands - Investigate the properties of light as it relates to three dimensional objects - Express their unique point of view and refine their personal style through the creation of an original piece of artwork - Learn how to critique the work of others using constructive methods - Observe and reflect upon a selection of classical and contemporary sculpture -Experiment with a variety of materials including clay, paper, cardboard, and found objects.
