Puppetry Arts 1-Day Workshop, 3 Hrs
A workshop in puppet-making and performing for elementary students.
Service Description
A 3-hour workshop on Sunday, April 14, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. This workshop is an introduction to hand puppet construction techniques and basic puppeteering skills. Construction will be based on paper mâché sculpting and fabric sewing and assembly. Students will create an original character embodied by their puppet. By combining vocal and movement techniques, they will bring their character to life. This workshop is a good fit for elementary aged students. All art materials are included, as well as a healthy non-allergenic snack. All art classes are personalized based on your child's interests and goals, and are taught by experienced educator Jessi Almstead, from her home studio. During this course, your young artist will: - Create an original puppet character to take home - Apply focused practice to technical skills using a variety of materials and tools, including 3D paper sculpting, and hand and machine sewing - Practice puppeteering skills of movement and character voice - Express their unique point of view and refine their personal style through the creation of an original puppet character - Strengthen literacy skills and confidence through storytelling and performance - Have a lot of fun while learning and exploring with a student-centered, hands-on approach!
