Service Description

A 6-hour course over 4 Tuesday sessions, from 4:00-5:30 pm, starting April 2, 2019. Class dates are Tuesdays: 4/2, 4/9, 4/16 & 4/23 Students will learn the art of fabric block printing, and create their own original design. An introduction to basic printing techniques will be paired with pattern creation. We will look at how patterns are represented in nature and the fine arts. Students will learn how to block print, and will carve their own design into a stamp. This course is a good fit for mature elementary aged students through high school age. All art classes are personalized based on your child's interests and goals, and are taught by experienced educator Jessi Almstead, from her home studio. All art materials are included, as well as a healthy non-allergenic snack. - Create an original printed piece to hang on a wall or use in some way - Apply focused practice to technical skills using a variety of materials and tools, including drawing, carving, and printing - Express their unique point of view and refine their personal style through the creation of an original piece of art - Strengthen math skills through real-life application of measurement - Build confidence by taking an original idea through the rewarding design process - Observe and reflect upon a selection of hand printed works of art - Have a lot of fun while learning and exploring with a student-centered, hands-on approach!
